About Us

We are here to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God to, mature manhood.

The greatest joy one can experience is participating in the coming of the kingdom of God in to the church-life of local congregations and into the lives of individuals.

On Word Ministries was birthed in 1987 as a ministry to church leaders and to their congregations. The vision was expanded in 2004 to include church leaders worldwide.

It all started in Japan, in 1957, when Father filled my Air Force barrack room with liquid love and called me to become a teacher in the Body of Christ. I began preaching immediately before I returned to the States to get an education. I worked my way through college preaching in small country churches as I was earning a BA in Religious Studies, and an MA in Greek and Church History from Eastern New Mexico University (1965) and, finally a PhD in Hebrew Language and Literature from The University of Texas at Austin (1974).

Beginning in 1964, with my new wife, Lynda Richards Shults, I have served on four different campuses as a professor of Bible and Theology. Our last campus engagement was with Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York, from 1981 till 2004. During my time on each campus I was deeply involved in the lives of the students, serving various small home-groups which were developing into churches and working with local churches within driving distance. My goal has always been to develop strong leaders. Today I have former students all over the world who are influencing their nations.

In 2007, we joined with Nation 2 Nation Christian University as their Dean of Academic Affairs and through them we are touching the hearts of leaders all over the globe. Our students are changing the spiritual atmosphere of their local communities and advancing the kingdom of God in their nations.

We continue to minister at retreats, seminars, conferences and local churches as we are invited.
