When I began my career as a Bible teacher, I intended to make myself available to churches without charge. I can even remember discussing this with a deacon back in '65, using Paul as an example.

But even though Paul never charged for his ministry, he did accept help for the work he was doing. And that is the position we are in today.

For many years we traveled to Mexico and other places at our own expense, even when our personal finances were very low. But with the astronomical rise of airfare and accommodations, this has become increasingly difficult, and sometimes just plain impossible. So it wounds our spirit not being able to respond to invitations to minister to people who simply cannot afford to get us there.
